Belousov: Russian Federation may impose export duties of 30% on sunflower products
Russia this week may impose an export duty of 30% on sunflower products to stabilize food inflation, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov told reporters. “The problem of inflation is important for us now, the inflation that has now started, it concerns several types of goods. As for non-food products, there is a slight acceleration, mainly due to the rise in the exchange rate,” he said.

Sunflower purchase prices are rising following quotations for soybeans and oil in the United States
After a short lull, the vegetable oil markets resumed their growth yesterday. After a three-day fall, palm oil rose in price by 2.6%, and soybean oil – immediately by 3.6%, which led to an increase in prices for sunflower oil and purchase prices for sunflower in Ukraine to a record level.
Sunflower deployed to Russia
Less than two months before a possible increase in export duties on sunflower from 6.5% to 30%, exporters of this crop had difficulties in obtaining phytosanitary certificates for supplies. Market participants do not exclude that informal export restrictions have been introduced in this way: this threatens to disrupt already concluded contracts and losses for traders.
